Re: "Couldn't care on way or another about 'the man'."

Some of us do, and want our lost freedom back.

Re: "It's your opinions which seem to me to be dogma."

And is dogma a bad thing for you?

Re: "If I were to say that your opinions are not worthy of consideration because you are (merely for the sake of argument) a liar and a cheat, that would be ad hominem."

Yes, but....If you then provided evidence of lies in my actual argument, it would not be ad hominem at all.

Re: "If I were simply to say that your opinions are obnoxious, it wouldn't be much of an argument, but it's not ad hominem."

Sorry to yell here (quietly), but YES, OF COURSE IT WOULD BE! THERE COULD BE NO BETTER EXAMPLE OF THE VERY DEFINITION OF AD HOMINEM THAN THIS WHICH YOU SAY IT IS NOT. Ask around. Go re-think. Even were you to provide evidence of obnoxiousness (as in the above ALL CAPS, you see?), so good as to convince all listeners, it would still be ad hominem in nature (an argument to the man and not the meat of the issue).

Seriously, you reveal your lack of understanding of ad hominem, and I'm just trying to help here, geesh!
