Just the politicians in charge for the last 8 years. No. Most of them loved or at least liked government, and the powers and perks that come from it, which is why they got involved in politics. Few of them wanted to reduce those powers and perks, and even for those few, wanting to shrink government doesn't equal hating it. Many dislike, and some hate, parts of it, but that isn't the same as hating the whole thing. And most of those in charge over the past 8 years have been anything but libertarian ideologues, or even strong believers in small government fiscal conservatism.
