I am not up to date on the Panama Canal upgrade and exact timing - sorry

As to the shipping company I mentioned they do not operate in that region - Atlantic / Mediterranean / Indian Oceans and the cargo ships are smaller than Panamax from what I understand, transporting mostly grains

By 2015 we may not need the Panama Canal. The Northwest Passage will be ice-free and shorter.
