It's not that. Liberals always appeal to emotion.

I for one can afford to care for my parents, but I'd rather not live militia-style. Hence the need for publicly-funded law enforcement and national defense.

Seems like liberals would rather not care for their own parents. Just leave that to the government.

Even the suggestion that our government should have a higher priority than defense reeks of stupidity. Our Constitution provides for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness -- none of these can exist without first having a strong defense. It has been that way since 1776.

You conservatives don't seem to be able to think in relative terms ...it's all or nothing. Chose between defense or health care, but not both. Get real.
