Thank you for those links. It's interesting to see astute observers of the markets come to similar conclusions about the structure of market behavior.

Last year, I had an email discussion with one of Armstrong's former employees. He sent me a paper by Armstrong that summarized his views on the sociopolitical future of the US, written shortly before he was incarcerated. Many of these ideas are captured in the most recent paper, but in this earlier paper he gets very specific about the timing of future political upheaval and the restoration of stability. My contact asked me not to post the document on the 'net, but I would be happy to send it to you if you are interested.

Yes, the market behavior is just astonishing. I have lost lots of money trying unsuccessfully to pick a bottom. The parallels with the 30s (including the counterproductive government intervention and the threat of protectionism) are uncanny and troubling. I hope that Obama doesn't burn millions of acres of crops or arrest retailers for cutting prices on their goods, as FDR did.
