I'm not familiar with the references you made, but from the context, I assume you're talking about machines that were most likely developed at public expense, followed by privatizing the profits through exclusive rights or patents.

In other words, you're arguing budget innovation has been priced out of the reach of private innovators as a result of government intervention.

Take a little time to go over some of the government grant programs. Across the board, they favor big business. The public ends up paying twice; once to fund the research, and again in predatory pricing on the monopolized end product.

Socialized expenses and privatized profits is not an economic system. It's robbery at the point of a gun, by government backed robbers.
