That would be the Zimbabwe solution. Yes, your mortgage would be paid off, but if you wanted to fly cross country, it would cost the same ring. A new car would cost say 20 rings, same as now. Subscription to a newspaper for a couple years: same ring.

And if you wanted to move into a bigger home, say worth twice as much, you'd need to fork over 250 rings. Or sell your house for 125 rings and rent until gold doubles to five million dollars an ounce.
