My opinion is that it's TECHNOLOGY (such as the Web) that is driving down daily paper and news magazine subscriptions.... Not any unusual turn towards 'incompetence' by the news media. (They have mostly always been fairly incompetent... and OFTEN much more biased and unprofessional than they even are now. For example, just go back and check out some of the reporting from the Spanish American War... or any other historical period you'd prefer to look at!)
