How do you explain the $54 TRILLION in unregulated CDSs that are outstanding? $50 Trillion is easily one hundred times the value of all the subprime mortgages extended in all of America (many of which are performing just fine...) over the entire last five years.

It's more than the gross economic product of the entire world for a whole year....

IMO, you are missing the entire, (& very large), forest of problems we have... by focusing on a puny sapling here or there.

Sub-prime --- (mostly just sub-prime loans made over the past two or three years... prior years are mostly performing OK still) --- might be the "Fuse" but they are not the dynamite that has blow us sky-high.
