CA is mandating zero emission vehicles so yes, oil price collapse will hurt some of this but not kill it.

As for Tesla, they scaled back because all startups are scaling back now, financing is too expensive, you have to give your company away. They need to hunker down like every other startup. Doesn't mean they are dead but a 109K car is not exactly a necessity here. They are cash flow positive though so thats good.

The fact is the US is sending 800 billion to the middle east every year to buy oil. Say oil prices fall by 2/3 to $40/bbl- that STILL means we are sending 266 billion to the middle east every year, or more than the cost of the IRaq war. Unacceptable. It doesn't matter where oil is priced, this is a wealth drain on the part of the US economy. Add the global warming concerns and oil is dead.
