Sam,

Well, SEG did make mistakes and they know it. There is a lot of unreasonable bashing going on, but that doesn't change the fact that "mistakes were made". No matter what the tone of the conference call, SEG is taking resposibility for the mess and a lot of changes are happening at the top (personnel type). Luczo/Watkins are remaking the company's management. I have heard now that we are in for one more bad quarter (re: $50 - 100M charge), but when the new Barracuda products come out SEG will be back on top and the prospects for some really breakout earnings are there from January. Should be better than QNTM since they've just finished a run and DLT will evntually run out of steam or they will see competition creep in (companies can't avoid a lucrative market for long). Then we will be wondering why Brown "didn't see it coming".

Regards,

<<IMO, we can't come down too hard on SEG for this mess. In hindsight, it was almost
inevitably a mess--too many players coming in at once trying get share,>>
Sam, I agree. What about everyone being dumb enough to believe they could all pile in at once. Esp with IBM investing billions extra in the drive business.
