Jill, do we really "need" solar power, at least in a reasonable investment time frame? Back in the oil crunch of the '70's, Gary Shilling, the economist who now writes a column for Forbes, pointed out that high oil prices bring out conservation efforts and human ingenuity to bear on the problem. Who knows what the result will be or more relevantly will it benefit solar energy producers or if so, the ones that are public today. A significant number of VC's have backed Obama and my guess is that there will be more than one alternate energy IPO coming to market over the next 12 to 18 months as our energy initiatives become greener.
