I was happy to see that the world so loved the US, that after 9/11 happened the whole world grieved with us and NATO invoked article 5 for the first time in its history. Article 5: an armed attack against one NATO nation is an armed attack against all, and requires that all take up arms to restore security to the one attacked. I was dismayed beyond words when Bush squandered that historic opportunity to strengthen our alliances and pissed all over them instead by deciding to go it alone. $750B later, we're still going it alone and the world hated us for it. Then Obama was elected and the world rejoiced, because to them it was proof positive that the America they love wasn't dead and that we could recover what we once were. We're at another historic moment when we have a chance again to be the beacon of light, and regain all the power, prestige, and wealth that comes with that. If you are hated, you die alone and poor. If you are loved, you die with others and things come easy to you in life. I'm just glad enough of us recognize that fact to change course from the one set by the Neocon extremist Republicans of this age.
