I don't have kids so I would like to opt out of paying any taxes for education whatsoever. I don't really care if kids are well-educated, I just want them to stay the hell away from me and my stuff. Maybe we could have a system where childless people can opt out or opt in. If they opt in they get to shoot one teenager per year. If they opt out and they shoot a kid they get life in prison.

Nobody gets a pass from paying real estate taxes which then fund public schools. Wha you get if you have a child in a public school is a voucher to go spend in a private school. Look at it this way. Those who care will send their children to private schools because the public schools are so bad. Those who don't care - as usual - will get a benefit they didn't earn or even want, namely smaller class size in the public schools. Everybody wins.
