Clinton planned to. He chickened out after a bad town meeting in OH.

I'm not so much concerned with the size of a bailout as i am the integrity and effectiveness of a bailout.

So you agree with Palin that there s/b "no more surprises"?

Schwarzenegger, while blaming the government for the economic meltdown is demanding that the government provide California with $5b/year for 3 years. That may be a down payment, hard to tell.

The entire right wing mantra is:

1. Blame the government for everything. This allows big business and Republicans to absolve themselves of nearly all blame except for claiming that they were pushed by government into making stupid investments for lots of money.

2. Demand that the government give them money since it is all the government's fault.

3. Pretend that Bush doesn't actually exist and Democrats have been running the government all along.

This is why we should never have Republicans in power again. They screw things up royally, take the money and then blame everyone else. That allows them to demand even more money they didn't earn.

Unbelievable but typically Republican. Notice how blaming the government for everything allows them to ignore the nationalization of AIG and the socialization of the financial system and maybe, soon, the car industry. It isn't 'socialism' or 'nationalization' under a Republican government, it's merely the government fixing what it broke.
