FWIW, I went to public school (in New Orleans, no less) from K-6th grade and from 9th-12th. Learned more in those 4 high school years than anywhere else in my education (including college, grad school and post grad). And even more about people. But that was in the early 70's, pretty sure it's a different experience now.
