I wouldn't say it was quite 'tacit approval'.

I have no doubt that sexism exists... and misogyny, etc.

(But I would certainly never say: "men just cannot stand women with opinions", IMO that is far too much of an over-generalization. In fact, I believe that extreme sexist views such as that are very much in the minority --- in our society, at least.)

Not sure that 'Sarah Palin' would make a very good case study for it either.

(You know... at least sometimes a 'cigar is just a cigar', and criticism for being unprepared/insufficiently experienced/under-educated or just on the 'wrong side' of lots of issues from the majority of the public is just that... an observation. Without any sexist undertones required. :-)
