Yea... I have no doubt that "things will work out in the long run", but that usually means (if every other species on the plant is a guide) a "die off".

The problem is, as with any other complex system, that "phase transition" can be appear to be reached very quickly, is hard (impossible) to predict, and certainly non-linear... ie. when looked at linearily (our perception) it appears to speed up very rapidly at the end... like a balloon a little kid blew up and let go that is flying about the room.... that 'end part'.

:((

Suzuki uses the example of bacteria in a test tube that double every so often... it takes 60 minutes (example) for the test tube to fill with bacteria and the die off to start... at mins the test tube is only 1/2 full of bacteria... @ 58 mins 1/4... etc... The rapid destruction of forests, oceans, higher vertibrates, and even pollinators on the planet does not bode well when thinking of where we are as a species... and when things start to look "real bad"... it'll undoubtedly be too late.
