The real clarification that you seem to miss is that the future is not determined. A fetus may or may not be born. You also can't look at someone now and make any determination whether the world would be better or worse had that person not been born and therefore never been a person in the first place.

When you look into the past it is easy for some to be fooled into thinking that the present had to happen, and therefore the some event in the past was inevitable. The fact, ... yes fact that Einstein proved ... was that the future is uncertain. This also means that past events were uncertain at the time they had not yet occurred.

Of course once something does happen, it becomes manifest, it becomes a fact. That's the strange thing about time. The past is absolute, the future is unknown.
