spoke to credit suisse special-ops leader, and there would be substantial cuts in hkg office by january, and the fun around the company is to send e-mails to one another to see whose e-mail no longer functions

Spoke to some citi deep throats

1) Expect massive cuts mid-week, potentially very outsized at the new fringes of empire… Australia , Japan …

2) Cuts recently have left staff with $9 stock (from $40) and only local severance packages, while many staff’s pension plan -50% from stocks

3) Do note some sr guys did buy some of their stock this week...(see stock exchange disclosures)

4) Some departments in Asia , which has been protected so far, could see 20+% cuts

5) I am betting economics department, a legacy mismanaged department, gets cut 50% or more

6) New Citi mgt on 50Floor Citibank in HK/Asia has grown the size of their offices while talking cuts …few believe they are cutting back their own

7) Recently they ordered a new expensive video link system…Only works for a few countries and is no better than old one

8) New big man is Ajay Banga

9) Former big man, Bob Morse, who enjoyed his approx US$30,000/mth house rental from Citi is supposed to have moved to the 25F Citibank on his 1-yr cover after leaving Citi

What is the average income (including bonuses) of a laid off work from a Wall Street related job? Are they finding employment? If yes, are they at the same income level or are they now “under employed”?

I think upcoming employment statistics is subjected to interpretation, much more than usual.

Jr analyst 150-300k total comp! ... But many support staff on regular salaries xcept used to getting a not too small bonus ... (For many industries) ... But think of hedgies this year...in some ways tougher. ... My view has been I can deliver a similar product for half to a quarter my previous take home.
