Nonetheless, I am not a believer for several reasons, not the least of which is the "consensus argument". It seems like when a crtic of global warming asks a question the answer inevitibly is "there is a consensus", as though the consensus has always been right. The problem is that there does not actually appear to be a consensus, but more importantly if you can't explain whey the critics are wrong, something is likely wrong with the theory. For example, how do you account for the fact that no model of global warming works. Surely if we understand what is causing global warming someone shoud be able to produce a working model. How do you explain the temperature swings that occurred in the medievel times, when England was prime grape growing country and Greenland was heavily farmed. Also, the warming period then was extremely beneficial to mankind, so why would warming be a disaster if repeated. These seem to me to be simple common sense questions that a person who is not an expert would ask out of healthy skepticism but the only answer seems to be that there is a consensus in favor of global warming or the other favorite the oil companies are paying scientists to lie to us. Well, if this is true, why don't the proponents provide scientific responses to the supposed oil company liars. It is not an answer to say the oil companies pay them because that alone does not make them wrong. If they are wrong an explanation of why they are wrong needs to be provided. I see these patterns repeated over and over and they lead me to believe that Global Warming is a popular modern myth. Little joe
