Okay, let's go with an easy one to start with, a P/E of 10

$41.58 X 10 = SPX 415.80, give or take -- but that's only another 50% or so drop from here -- no biggie, right?

If you prefer using some historic bear market low valuations instead, let's go with a P/E of say, 8, which approximates the era from 1917 through 1921, or 1948 through 1952, or 1978 through 1981

$41.58 x 8 = SPX 332.64 -- wouldn't that be a bitchin' haircut from the recent top at 1550ish

Maybe that's too gloomy for people to contemplate. Then again OTOH, maybe things will get even ooglier and make that $41.58 look rosy -- anything can happen now that the big bust is in progress
