Re: "it will never happen in our life time" So you suggest we give up on every mandating balanced federal governments and smaller, less intrusive government in general. I say: FIGHT ON. We need the Balanced Budget amendment more than ever. (And, you know what I call someone who REFUSES to support the Balanced Budget amendment? A "Fiscal LIBERAL".) This is the issue I use to separate the trash-talking phony 'conservatives' from the REAL ones. (It is always EASY to proclaim that you are a fiscal conservative --- endless streams of lying politicians in Washington have done so... all while they steadily increased federal spending and deficits --- but it is harder to actually walk the walk.)
