Caught the 60 minute interview of Barack and Michele Obama last night. It is so refreshing to listen to someone who is thoughtful, bright, and realistic....both of them! He is going to make such a difference, even if the country is in a ditch right now.

What a contrast, and a breath of fresh air. That was stunning to watch!

Ditto that.

It just felt so right to have a leader who could communicate and have it feel genuine.

I also must say I liked his view on a college football playoff system for a championship.

:o)

yeah. i liked it too. it gave me the audacity to hope.

sorta reminded me of the essay i wrote in march 2002,
Horse Walks Into A Bar:

sailbluefrog.com

i saw our present situation coming, i warned as many
people as would listen and then sat around in dismay
until now. humpty dumpty had a great fall. all of barack's
horses and all of his men cannot put humpty together
again. we have to build a whole new economy based on
the new rules for a new economy and the golden rule
(which we weren't using).

can you imagine what a mistake it would be to rush in
and throw money at the auto industry to prop up the
failing behemoth and restore it to what it once was?
it'll fall on its arse faster than it did before
and we'll waste even more time and money.

the auto industry HAS to change. it has to come into
alignment with nature and the evolution of the universe.
GM (and the others) should change their focus to being personal
transport companies. they can make all manner of personal
transport solutions. they must develop networks and
partnerships with others... individual users, mass transport
companies covering air, land, sea, space and time travel...

they have to make stuff that recognizes our need to
change energy sources -- and cut back pollution --
stuff that benefits individuals but at the same time
benefits the whole.

we need to all be on the same page as far as what the nature
and direction of the universe is. that's where someone
like barack obama (or any leader with vision) can help
us all help each other and help ourselves in the process.

bush didn't understand any of that. i think he must have
skipped "universe observation 101" when he was partying
at yale. consequently, he wasn't able to lead us in skating
to where the puck is going to be.

i'd like to see him in the penalty box but if we can at
least bench him we can turn around and head forward. the
ideal scenario would be to trade him to the maple leafs
or maybe the somalian pirates for a future pick, eh?

a win-win solution.

but it's probably too late for him to have any trade value
now that he's a failure AND a lame duck. two more months
and he'll be completely impotent.

(THIS is where the importance of the two major life
dreams i had in my youth come into focus. but they are
part of a larger, longer story that i'll not try to
tell at this time. maybe i'll write it someday. it would
make a good movie script.)
