I don't know about that 'well known fact' claim!

(But --- for whatever percentage of 'men' out there that reject women who can think for themselves... I'd argue that those few are not really much of a man, more like scaredy cats and wusses.)

Probably not.

I would have given her possibly (at best) maybe a 50% chance of winning in a general election. (The GOP had been teeing up for her for YEARS, practically salivating at the chance to run against her....)

If she had run and won though, it would have most likely been with a NARROWER margin of victory (fewer electoral college votes, fewer popular votes) than Obama scored.

Starting out with 50% or so of the public *opposed* to her (her long-held high negative poll numbers) would have meant that if she had been able to win it would have only been a narrower win.
