It invokes strong nationalism, reactionary thought, racism and encourages the union of gov't and corporations. All of that was present in Nazi Germany.

Spare me the textbook bullet points.

Mussolini began as a Socialist and fascism is replete with socialist welfare policy. The concept is that the state is omnipotent and dominates individuals.

Take a look at the policy of the Woodrow Wilson government which involved under which opponents of his administration were oppressed in every way. Look at FDR's use of concentration camps.

When one looks closely at the roots of fascism it has more a resemblance to liberalism than anything else. While there are some characteristics of fascism that are coincident with conservatism, it is important to note that the KEY elements of fascism are essentially stolen from the liberal/progressive playbook.
