All the studies show similar things. While I suppose you might not care about regulating bad driving, imo for the safety of us all it must be done. If people will be irresponsible they must be regulated.

If they only killed themselves I wouldn't care a bit. But they might take my son or daughter out- and for that reason, I say throw the book at them.

Your freedom to be a moron ends when you will endanger my child's life.

It just seems logical to me that when something contributes to increased risk for others, you control it as much as possible.

From my observation of drivers talking on cellphones, they would appear to be as much a hazard as alcohol impairment. They would appear to be as much an impairment as driving with kids squabbling in the back seat. Seems to me that drivers should stop to use cellphones or discipline the kiddies.

I'm not sure either should be illegal. Personally, I'd feel better if both were illegal just as I feel better that smoking in restaurants has been outlawed but, as you know, my default is always the libertarian one.

It seems to me that to make it illegal we'd have to look at the public health impact. If cellphone users aren't causing more accidents than, say, removing your coat while driving or eating or watching the GPS monitor or disciplining your kids, then you don't make it illegal.
