Iomega's Lawsuit Against Syquest

>> Very little news, except Iomega stated in the last conference call that a hearing was set for January 1999. That date seems out of wack to me. If it is truly over a year away, then SyQuest has time to turn things around and come out with new products unrelated to the suit. <<

Actually, if SyQuest is ultimately found guilty, it could face heafty multi-million dollar fines in addition to turning over all profits related to the offending products. Since SyQuest is without cash right now, the delay actually favors Iomega. Imagine an extra $500 million dollar to Iomega's bottom line in 2001. SyQuest is not stealing Iomega's thunder in stores right now, so why bother? Let SyQuest compete (kill) with the other new comers, then take its profit. :-)
