With the Democrats this close to a filibuster-proof Senate, the election in Minnesota takes on strategic importance.

Not really. A party is only filibuster-proof if every single member votes the way they want every time. The Dems have too many Senators that won't -- among them Lieberman, Bill Nelson, Ben Nelson, Landrieu, etc...

60 is just a number.
