Wow Troy- I picked a good time to lurk- Here I thought that my efforts to bring an element of rational discourse to the AMD thread had vanished into the cyber-ether! I too was irritated that money is coerced from me at gun-point to pay for what the defender of Ruby Ridge and her boss thinks constitutes an operating system- or fair business practice, for that matter. But in the spirit of a kinder and gentler SI, perhaps we should not refer to "morons". Such charity should even apply to those who are unable to spel such a complex word as "moron" (as I recall, nus was one of those whose response to my points about anti-trust consisted almost entirely of ad hominem attacks). So, characterize them not as "morons", but perhaps as uneducated and uneducable people- quintessentially normal! You have to remember, the moral sense of people who might be said to characterize this thread is not much more sophisticated than "whose ox is being gored"- don't expect them to generalize. At least Microsoft has the wherewithal to go to the mat in front of the federal judiciary, unlike many of the small fry who the current Department of Justice has taken to task. It is sad, however, that those who escaped government tyranny from one society seek to impose it on their betters in another society- but then again, Albert may well have been more an economic migrant than one who left the former Worker's Paradise because of any particular desire for liberty. Still, I would have hoped someone of his background might at least have had some interest in the dynamics of freedom- but I've learned not to expect too much. Anyway, I couldn't suppress a smile at your post, but in terms of enlightening anyone, I think you're wasting your time on this thread. Regards, Larry P.S. A special note of appreciation to "mr. e" for his recent Spotlight discussing the CPU vendors.
