That Marc Rich pardon is interesting. Scooter Libby had been one of Mark Rich's lawyers until spring of 2000. Something like 18 years and $2 million. Rich hired Jack Quinn, supposedly on Holder's recommendation, to pursue a pardon. Quinn was Bill Clinton's White House Counsel 1995-6. Clinton and Quinn did use Holder for cover-my-ass. The Israelis had been pursuing a pardon for Jonathan Pollard, but redirected their effort toward the Rich pardon. You're right. Washington is a cesspool. A pragmatic socialist votes Democratic, because they're marginally progressive. EDIT: Vivian Malone was Eric Holder's sister-in-law. washingtonpost.com
