Thats going to happen anyway though. People are going to stop buying from GM because all this noise about a bailout is just as bad as an actual chapter 11 in terms of PR. The minute those guys went to washington saying they were going to be out of cash in a month, that was the end of any current sales pipelines.

Given that GM had an extremely friendly and corrupt administration in power these past 8 years, where things like huge tax breaks for hummers were created, the big 3 needed to save up for a rainy day when the corrupt administration left and lawsuits and tax breaks were no longer tolerated.

But what it looks like is that without the legal system and 50K tax breaks for SUVs, they don't have a viable business model! This has been going on for 8 years.

I know 2 people that bought huge SUVs because that Bush tax break allowed them to take 50K off the REVENUE from their small business in 2004. What an incredible gravy train and totally corrupt. I also believe that GM and US car company lobbies do their best to restrict the number of Priuses and fuel efficient cars available in California.
