koan, from your past posts, I consider you very liberal in your political thinking. And the "L" word is something that many on this thread is very proud of, including yours truly.

But on this auto industry bailout issue, we first need to agree that the unions need to share the blame also. The "kairetsu" model of Japan should be adopted here. You cannot have the workers in the ancillary industries that supply to the Big 3 have to sweat it out so that the line workers in the BIG 3 via their unions emulate the fat cats of the CEOs and their gangs.

Mr. Press of Toyota is an American and the CEO of Toyota US. He has been very successful in selling his ideas on efficiently running Toyota to his bosses in Japan. Imagine if his ideas were adopted by the top bosses at Big 3. Follows the Demming story, isn't it.
