If that isn't an argument for no bailout, I don't know what is. Detroit is learning impaired. They've had many, many opportunities to learn since Beetles got popular in the sixties, and have failed every time.

You guys believe any BS the MSM prints! GM has many small cars, hybrids, and has sold electric vehicles. They couldn't have sold a lot of SUV's if people did not buy them. The exec is right there will always be a market for large SUV's because they have good utility. But there will always be a market for even frivolous gas guzzlers, it will simply be a smaller market share. Get the financial markets going again and they will be popular again, though maybe not as much as they were.
