Still... with the VAST MAJORITY of all sub-prime mortgage loans made by institutions that *were not even subject* to the Community Reinvestment Act provisions, (which applied only to the large banks, not the crop of 'non-bank' mortgage lenders which sprang up in recent years) and CRA loans running around a default rate of 1/4 percent, (while sub-prime overall posts 4 1/4 percent) then I believe that only someone willing to IGNORE the statistics could claim any causal relationship between CRA and the sub-prime mess of the past few years.
