Unless GM starts slashing jobs, closing plants, and shuttering venerable marques like Buick, $25 billion is about a year's worth of lifeline. Great article. It is absolutely absurd to fork over money to these guys unless something is done with the business model to make it viable. No bank or other lender would fork over dollars to this bloated pig without a major restructuring. We already have a process for this -- bankruptcy. The bankruptcy court will require them to solve these problems in a tried and true way that gives them the best shot at survival. This idea of throwing money at them is just insane. Whatever happened to the Dems' outcry against "corporate welfare"?
