It's this type of stuff that makes me think that we may actually need a depression.

It's this type of remark that makes me think you're more stupid than even *I* usually think.

Undoubtedly, each of these individuals traveled with an entire group of people who were there to support their testimony. Some of these are people who are making $15,000/hour or more.

And you think they should have flown coach?

Don't be an idiot. There is a reason corporations find it necessary to own and operate expensive jets. A major corporation will own an entire fleet. Not because they want to waste money, but because it SAVES money. A corporation I worked for years ago maintained jet capable airstrips in numerous small towns simply because that was the most efficient way to get groups of people people in and out of a location.

Duh.

If you want to talk about "personal excess", let's talk about RFK Jr. and Al Gore, who have no legitimate function in life flitting around on private jets. That's excess.

These corporate execs, along with their staff people, whether or not you like it, are responsible for millions of jobs and doing what they perceive to be necessary to keep those jobs alive. It would be the worst possible business judgment to have them NOT fly to DC and back on corporate jets.

It's this type of stuff that makes me think that we may actually need a depression. It never dawns on anyone in this country that they may need to personally sacrifice to make things "work". The conservatives blame the unions, the liberals blame extravagant & dumb management. Nobody is talking mean and lean, except some small businesses.

I suspect that if things were left to their own, big business in this country would die, while small business would eventually thrive. But the process would be extremely painful short term to everyone... especially those nearing retirement (me!) where 'life' is short term

Its happen many times previously in history.......allegedly that's why Antoinette died. People become inured to empathy; have no idea how frivolous their behavior looks. I hold onto the notion that it shouldn't take a revolution or a depression for people to 'get it' but maybe not.

BTW I think I figured out how your water heater works. One of my friends has one too. I forgot to ask him.....are your water bills/electric bills higher now that you have this particular tank? If my theory is correct, it takes a lot of energy to keep the coils hot.
