RE: "Inflation doesn't destroy saving?"

No. Savings aren't destroyed. Savings are stolen.

For example, you go to a bank and say, "I have accumulated enough wealth to meet my basic living needs for one month. I want you to store that wealth for me in case I need it to meet my basic living needs for one month 5 years from now.".

If 5 years later the wealth you deposited is only enough to meet your basic living needs for half a month, half of it has been stolen.

The other half wasn't "destroyed". It didn't cease to exist. It was taken by others and used for their own purposes; against your will, and without your consent.
