btw, BC, not that I want to be arguing about it exactly, but I found this intriguing ... mentioned almost in passing in an article in Salon on Onama's choosing Hillary.

"Then again, perhaps this momentous transition will offer a chance to reopen the discussion of various canards about the Clinton years. Insinuations abound, as always, in such matters as the Holder nomination and his role in the pardon of Marc Rich, to take one example. But has anybody noticed that almost eight years later, the infamous financier has yet to set foot in the United States -- or to ask why? When Holder's name comes up for confirmation in the Senate, will anyone examine the real reasons that Clinton gave clemency to Rich -- and who asked him to do so? We shall see."

Insinuation being that Slick pardoned him as a gesture to the Israelis, and that Holder was merely serving his interests?

And more broadly, that Obama knows this and is willing to spend a little political capital to get the people he wants, including Clinton (hold your enemies closer -g) ... Geithner possibly excepted, he seems to be putting together an A-team, Emmanuel and all the rest, almost like he knows how he is going to use them ... just think of the royalty effect of Slick escorting the SoS to foreign capitals, for one thing.
