actually if you lose your job right now, the food and cost of living situation is going to be a problem, but I suspect you can stop paying your mortgage and stay in your house, some how some way. Fannie/Freddie are already holding off foreclosures for the next 2 mos, probably assuming Obama will do something or put a moratorium on foreclosures. In fact you could probably stop paying on all your consumer loans and be fine for a while. As someone with a mortgage that is current I have to wonder why I still pay mine <ng>
