Instead of watching the market today, I took my son up to Mt Whitney for a little hike. We just did a daytrip to Lone Pine Lake. Whitney Portal is at 8360' and Lone Pine Lake is around 10,000'. It's about 2.5 miles each way. During the summer, there are schools of trout swimming near the shore of Lone Pine Lake. The original plan was to do a little fishing. As you will be able to tell from the photos, we weren't very successful on this front. Tomorrow we are going to Death Valley.

The boy and I are planning on going to the summit next summer. Though we will likely take a few days to get there instead of doing it all in one day.
