I think a few big hedge funds just keep shorting the debt and the stock while bidding up the swaps so it looks like they are going broke. Easy money.

Would this be as easy or as profitable--or even possible--if the uptick rule was still in place? With the uptick rule, shorting is limited if buyers are limited. Without it....
