I think there is a viable coalition available for the Republicans to tap, and it could result in significant congressional seat gains just two years from now. Focus on smaller government, incentives for small business growth and hiring, return many of the old contract with America pledges, revamped for the new Century. While staying true to values issues, don't make them the cornerstone of policy.

Obama will overreach. Pelosi will overreach. Opportunities will surface. But if the Republicans rip each other up cause the libertarian wing is too "heartless" and the social conservatives "too monolithic", then no governing coalition can ever form.

Obama, like him or not, is not a fool. The Lieberman move was smart politics. Now Joe owes him. Getting Hillary in the Cabinet is smart. Now she has to march to his drum...

Empty suit or not, he is not a fool.
