I suspect lots of people said that about Paulson when he took the job.

I don't really have any opinion on Geithner, except that he seems to be part of the same cadre that has gotten us to where we are (who knows if things would be better or worse than if they had taken different actions or inactions). And I don't remember anyone saying something like, "The Fed did x, but Tim Geithner voted against such a decision." So I'm not sure what change of direction we'll see, if any.
