This would NEVER happen in a SilentZ world. Just unionize and force the company to keep our jobs around. Why even work hard and take responsibility for our own employability? Cause it's a "white collar" job?

When did being fair translate into a free ride? Do you think people in GM's factory have it better than you do? Think again. They work harder and are less likely to have the stabiliity that you have.

As for losing your job, welcome to the free market economy. We all face getting laid off at one time or another. One mistake.....one slip up and you're screwed.

"I know that my job is always a year or two away from being cut. There is also an annual ranking and review process (R&R) that ensures I either keep up the productivity or go work somewhere else."

..and you think the same thing doesn't happen in factories? You are a one man straw man factory.

That's why some choose to join the failed education system, an organized charity, work for the govt, or run for political office. You don't have to worry about your job as long as you know who's butt to kiss. No P&L bottom line...

There is also an annual ranking and review process (R&R) that ensures I either keep up the productivity or go work somewhere else.

Institutionalized R&R is inexact, subjective and disruptive. Deming is rolling in his grave.
