"I think it's a lock"
Not so fast William.
California hates F & GM.
GM sued Ca several times as I remember
forcing the Hummer and SUV rebates.
And congress is full of Californians.
They are going to have to make some
pretty fancy steps before Pelosi says OK.jmho.

I agree. It's a lock.

What I find humorous is the call from Congress to have a plan of action presented to them by the automakers. I hate to be cynical but Congress wouldn't understand anything of that nature. Sending the CEOs home with that request was merely a fig leaf for Congress to look like good stewards of public money.

I think it's not only a lock that they will get their $25 billion, but in six months they'll be back on bended knee to ask for more saying that $25 billion was not nearly enough. The same rationale will be presented again to the public saying that we can't let them fail and we must support our manufacturing base or place our nation in economic peril.

I wonder if the buggy whip makers asked for a bailout at the turn of the century when they realized that their business was being overcome by other's innovation?

Pat
