Protesters, police clash in Iceland

(AP:REYKJAVIK, Iceland) Police have fired pepper spray at hundreds of protesters who stormed a police headquarters in Iceland.

Police say several of the demonstrators were injured and sent to a hospital.

The clash occurred Saturday in Reykjavik, Iceland's capital, as the protesters demanded that a fellow demonstrator being held by police be allowed to go home.

The confrontation ended and police calmed the crowd by releasing the man on bail.

There have been many protests in Iceland in recent weeks, as that country has seen its economy collapse under the weight of the global credit crunch.
