Re: " you will end up paying for everything."

The most important thing now is to prevent 'Japan-style' DEFLATION from striking.

With deflation debts become more burdensome.

So the massive debts piled-up during Bush's eight years (& into next year... unavoidable) would become even more difficult to pay, even more of a drag on the economy... could drag America down like an anchor.

Also with outbreaks of deflation, you run the risk of the economy spiraling downward even faster... consumers go on strike (why buy something like a house or a car today when deflation will mean that the price will be lower in the future?)

Thinking like that can cause an economy to seize-up for a very long time... such as Japan's 'lost decade'... which they have still yet to fully recover from.

Even turning 'Helicopter Ben' lose with his Fed 'printing press', or Congress loose with infrastructure spending to rebuild America's roads/bridges/electrical transmission networks, etc. would not have any downside as potentially BAD as a prolonged and self-reinforcing bout of DEFLATION.
