McCain screwed his political career by hanging onto Bush's coattails. His best chance was in 2004 when Kerry invited him to be his running mate. But he considered that being loyal to Bush and the Republican party's ideology was more important than serving the country as VP. And now his Republican party (the conservatives) gave him the shaft. They favored Palin more than they favored him. He is now walking the Senate halls as a very angry man. It is easy to figure who he is angry at.
