Everyone works hard in one way or another. Whether it's a job behind a computer screen, or on the assembly line, whether you're flying all over the place for business or driving an 18-wheeler, you put your time, effort, and skills into your work. My boss always tells me, "If it were easy, anyone could do it."

But how about working smarter? How about actually competing instead of asking for more and more handouts so that both management and the unions can reward themselves for a job poorly done?

For the life of me, I don't understand why you begrudge the auto worker a decent wage. $50K per year for a family of four is the median wage in this country. If mgmt knew how to run their companies, they would not be in trouble. This is mostly the fault of mgmt, not the worker on the line.

By the way, have you heard or read about the BMW plant in Leipzig? I was fortunate enough to have visited this plant in person. Quite a modern technological achievement in manufacturing:

Tell me how the US auto industry plans on competing against that before telling me how tough it is for someone to make $56K on a job that requires no college education.

Uh.....the German workers make more than their American counterpart; that's why they are locating factories in the US. One of my German friends works for Audi. If you think auto workers have it good in this country, you should check things out a little closer in Germany. The German unions make my friend crazy with all their little demands.
